After 10 years in business, I have decided to close my location at 25 Wellesley Street East. The last day of operations will be this Sunday, April 29.
I would like to thank all my patrons for their valued support. Cooking for you has been my raison d'etre for the past ten years and it has been a very good experience. You have always provided me with great feedback and lots of ideas on how to make your fine dining experience even better.
I am very excited about this change as finally I will have time to travel, study and eat! My plan is to do a work/study term in Europe and then travel to Asia where I will spend some time in India doing consulting work and learning more about regional cuisines.
If all goes well, I will be returning to Toronto in early 2008. Plans for a new restaurant are in the works. Expect an intimate and individual approach to fine dining Indian-style and an adventurous menu matched to "new world" wines from the sub-continent and beyond.
I plan on posting regular items to keep you up-to-date with my culinary travels.
Bon appetite!

Dear Debuda,
I guess I have earned that much points eating at your restaurant, that I can call you by that name. Although I have never met you personally but during my one year stay in Toronto in 2004-05, I have been to your restaurant at least once a month, my son who was 4 at that time probably met you many times as he had a free pass to go in to the kitchen, and you loaded him with chocolates, so he was also very fond of visiting there. I only wish I have been there more often.
I moved back to San Francisco last year, and missing that taste ever since, so is there any chance you like to open a branch here? Because after all said and done there's only a handful of places in North America that serves "real" Indian food.
I wish you all the very best in whatever you set out to do next, and hope to meet you in person someday.
Best Wishes,
Sudev

I have thanked you so many times already, but I think one more on this occasion is required. Dear Debu, I have enjoyed your incredible hospitality and wonderful talents over the years, and I have come to to know what dedication and selfless service are neccesary to maintain such a high level of achievement. Truly you are a great man in a hundred different ways. I will always follow your career with the greatest interest, and look forward to the day when I can experience such joy again. May the Gods bless your every step. Paul

I wish you best of luck and much joy on your travels. I'm terribly sad that my favourite restaurant, one of my neighbourhood's best treasures, is gone. Cheers!

Oh no! Where will I take my soon-to-be-in laws for dinner before the wedding day next week?! We have had many fantastic dinners at your restaurant, (I can still remember when it was Captain Jack's) and we look forward to your return to Toronto when you have been further enlightened.
We wish you all the best on your life path.

Sad to see you go! I really had some great meals there. At least I got to snag some shots of it. :) Look forward to your return.

Debu,
Having eaten at both of your Toronto locations (Roys Square & Biryani House) for more years than I care to count. We have relished every mouthful of your sumptuous cuisine. It has truly been a delight and an honor to have met you on several occasions.
We are counting the months, hours and days until your triumphant return, with I'm sure some new creations for us to savor and enjoy.
We recently dined at the new "Biryani House" without knowing of your departure, we could tell on the first mouthful that something was not quite right!
Should you decide to create an e mail notification list for your pending return please, please, please, please add us to it.
